Historic Landmark Committee

The Town of Bath has a rich history of more than 250 years as the country’s first spa and notable resort area. Not only does it possess one of the most prominent colonial histories in West Virginia, it is also prominent on the national level.

The Historic Landmark Commission seeks to preserve the historic sites of the Town of Bath.

May is Historic Preservation Month, and we’re taking a moment to recognize the talented and dedicated people making a difference in West Virginia.
🏆The 2026 Preservation Hero Award was presented to Zachary Salman (pictured right with PAWV Board President, Cade Vogelsong, on the left) for his passion for preservation, which began at a young age and has continued to grow into a lifelong commitment to protecting the history and character of his hometown. Zachary’s story is one rooted deeply in community. Raised in Berkeley Springs, he grew up surrounded by the arts, architecture, and history that make Morgan County such a special place.
