DRINKING WATER PROBLEM CORRECTED 

Customers of BSWW were notified on 03/31/2026 of a problem with our drinking water and were advised to boil water before use. We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected, and it is no longer necessary to boil water before use. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Repairs were made and water sample came back negative for any contaminants.

03/31/2026 UPDATE Water Service Restored – Boil Water Notice Still in Effect

Berkeley Springs Water Works has restored water service to customers south of Route 522, from Sheetz heading south. Thank you for your patience while our crew addressed the unexpected outage.

A Boil Water Notice remains in effect until further notice. This precaution will stay in place until water quality testing is complete and results confirm it is safe to lift the notice.

We will share an update as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.


UTILITY ISSUED 

BOIL WATER NOTICE

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING 

 On March 31, 2026, a water problem occurred at our 522 water tank causing contamination of your water. The areas that are affected are as follows:

□ Entire Water System or □ Other   South of Route 522 – From Sheetz heading South on Valley Road.

CONDITIONS INDICATE THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT YOUR WATER IS CONTAMINATED. TESTING HAS NOT OCCURRED TO CONFIRM OR DENY THE PRESENCE OF CONTAMINATION IN YOUR WATER.

What should I do? 

  • DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

What happened? What is being done? A shut off valve broke, causing our tank to drain. Repairs have been made.

  

 We will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 24-48 hours

Water Outage Alert – South of 522 

Berkeley Springs Water Works is responding to an unexpected issue affecting customers south of Route 522, from Sheetz heading south.

You may experience low water pressure, followed by a temporary loss of water service within the next few hours. Our crew is on-site and working to restore service as quickly as possible.

When water returns, a Boil Water Advisory will be in effect. Please bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before using or use bottled water. Use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and bathing until further notice.
