County Partnership
The Office of Mayor Greg Schene is proud to announce that the Town of Bath Police
Department has been recognized by the Morgan County Partnership as the 2026 Partner of the
Year. The prestigious award honors the department’s outstanding service, leadership, and
unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the Berkeley Springs community.
The award was presented by Melody Stotler, Substance Use Prevention Program Coordinator
and Dr. Kristen Gingery, Executive Director, during a special recognition ceremony celebrating
community leadership and partnership throughout Morgan County.
This recognition reflects the department’s dedication to community policing, public safety, and
meaningful partnerships that strengthen the Town of Bath and support residents, businesses,
and visitors alike.
Mayor Greg Schene praised the department for its professionalism and community-first
approach.
“The Town of Bath Police Department represents the very best of public service. Their
commitment to protecting our community while building positive relationships with residents
and local businesses has made a lasting impact. This recognition by the Morgan County
Partnership as 2026 Partner of the Year is well deserved, and we are incredibly proud of the
department and officers who serves our town.”
Special recognition was also given to Chief Ron Gardner and Patrol Officer Josh Stangle for their
leadership, dedication, and service to the community.
Over the past three years, the department has expanded its community engagement and public
safety initiatives through programs such as the DEA Drug Take Back Initiative, helping to safely
remove unused and expired prescription medications from the community while promoting
public safety and prevention efforts, as well as supporting the Life or Drugs Initiative, focused
on education, prevention, and awareness surrounding substance abuse and addiction.
In addition, both Chief Gardner and Patrol Officer Josh Stangle have participated in Crisis
Intervention Team (CIT) Training, strengthening the department’s ability to respond
compassionately and effectively to individuals experiencing mental health crises and other
challenging situations requiring specialized intervention.
The department has also continued supporting local events, downtown initiatives, tourism efforts, and collaborative partnerships that enhance the quality of life throughout Berkeley
Springs and the surrounding region.
The Town of Bath extends its sincere appreciation to the entire police department for its
dedication, professionalism, and service to the community.
