Police Administrative Specialist – Town of Bath, Berkeley Springs, WV

The Berkeley Springs Police Department is currently recruiting for the position of full-time Police Administrative Assistant. Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police, the Police Administration Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Department, including providing support to the Chief of Police, the Police Department, and to the Town of Bath. The Police Administration Specialist performs a wide variety of confidential and complex administrative, secretarial, and clerical activities related to the daily operation of the police department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritizes, organizes, and delegates a variety of administrative tasks; municipal procedures, practices, and policies; and general office procedures including maintaining complex and confidential records and files, providing information on departmental policies and procedures to the public, coding and processing invoices, purchasing office and operating supplies, and making travel arrangements for department staff.
  • Schedules, arranges, and takes including written minutes for Department meetings.
  • Responsible for the auditing of parking tickets, sending of outstanding parking ticket collection notices, managing the inflow of parking ticket payments, and updating any pertaining spreadsheets as necessary.
  • Responsible for the accurate preparation and filing of required reports in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures for the Berkeley Springs Police Department.
  • Must be willing to accept duty assignments that are assigned by the Chief of Police.
  • Perform all job duties in an accurate, professional, and timely manner while working scheduled hours, arriving promptly for duty when scheduled.
  • The nature of the work requires attention to detail, the ability to proofread and check work upon completion, the exercise of mature judgment, and the ability to work directly with the public.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
